Vintage car rally in Paris

Six impressive vintage cars...  ...touring the Arc de Triomphe...  ...visiting the Opera House...  ...a grand day in Paris!

April 2011: How do you make a lasting impression on a small group of important guests, coming to Paris for a short time? French DMC Alcep had the novel idea of organizing a  special rally for them around the city, using Vintage cars dating from 1907 to 1929. It was a wonderful day, made all the more memorable with the admiring glances they got from passers-by.

The essential idea

As a highly skilled French DMC, Alcep Travel & Events invests the same energy and imagination in small groups as in large ones. So when we had the opportunity to concentrate on a small group of Spanish travel agents, we decided that the innovation this time was the way in which our visitors could view the Parisian sights.

Something completely different

Today's cars are so complex, comfortable and gadget-filled that we forget life was once far more basic and simple. Riding around in an 85-year old car is an unforgettable experience in itself, but it becomes twice as memorable when you're viewing Paris's centuries-old architecture from it – and driving really slowly as well!

A special day

We located six unique French-built vintage cars (dating from 1907 to 1929) for our 12 Spanish guests. Each car was driven by its owner-driver and accompanied by two guests and a Spanish-speaking guide. We planned an interesting 3-hour route around Paris with many stops to take photos at national monuments and sites, followed by refreshments in an authentic French café.

In summary

The response from our guests was astounding. As one of them told us: "We know Paris well, but seeing it in this way gave us a whole new perspective. Riding around in cars that were new when many of the historic buildings were also new gave us the sensation of traveling back in time. It was an extraordinary feeling. Thank you for that!"
