August 2010: Mid-summer is the time to do crazy and fun things, says French DMC specialist Alcep Travel & Events. So when the opportunity arrived to organize a special weekend for a group of Belgian visitors, Alcep arranged a novel way to see Parisian sights – from a buggy!
Background
A Belgian insurance company asked us to arrange a special weekend in Paris for 30 of their key employees. When we asked what they had in mind they said "Surprise Us!" – so we did!
Creative directions
We found out that even though our visitors all live in Belgium, amazingly some of them had never been to Paris before (just 1.15 hours by high-speed train). We decided to arrange a very sensual time for them, because the truth is that Paris is always a delight, no matter how many times you visit!
We took them for a City Tour around Paris and introduced them to some great French Brasseries at mealtimes. But Sunday was reserved for a special event.
Buggies on Sunday
For our group of 30 people we hired 15 buggies (open tops) and gave each pair a road book, a digital camera and questions to answer about places along their route. Naturally we planned the route to go past national monuments such as the Eiffel Tower and Les Invalides museum.
At the beginning some pairs got a little lost but eventually everyone got back safely to their starting point. The great thing was being able to see Paris from this unusual and interesting perspective.
As one happy driver told us afterwards: "What a great idea you guys had! It was great fun wizzing around Paris streets like this. Perhaps the best thing was all the envious looks we got from the people that we passed."
In summary
Even a very short time like a weekend can be turned into something special, also for visitors like Belgians who generally know Paris very well. Alcep is one of the most established and experienced Destination Management Companies (DMC) in France and makes a great investment in all its projects – large and small – to ensure customer satisfaction.
